A tip is an additional payment made in recognition of good service received. It is usually percentage-based or a fixed amount and is at the customer's discretion. It is optional or expected, depending on local culture and practices.
Payments with Tips
If a customer wishes to leave a tip, the user selects the option in the Payment Panel. The default options will be displayed, as well as the option to enter an amount specified by the customer.
To accept payments with tips, it is important that the option is enabled from the Administrative Panel. Once enabled, the Tips icon will appear at the bottom of the Payment Panel.
To add the tip to the bill, first select the method by which it will be given and then the amount the customer will provide. This can be in the form of an open amount or as a percentage of the total.
Types of Tips
This refers to the classification of the tip based on the criteria used for its delivery by the customers.
Type | Description |
---|---|
By Percentage | This is calculated as a percentage of the total service cost. The percentage is applied to the total bill amount. It can be preset or chosen by the customer. |
By Amount | This is calculated based on a fixed amount, regardless of the total cost of the service received. A tip amount is predetermined. |
Open | There is no specific amount or percentage established, and its amount is discretionary, left to the customer's judgment. |
No Tip | This means no additional amount of money is left for the service received, and only the amount on the bill is paid. |
