Applies to Invu POS 6.10.1 on iPad, Android and Windows. Labels are shown as they appear when the POS is in English.
There are two different things we call "updating":
- Updating the app (new version): done from your device's store (App Store, Google Play or Microsoft Store). Tapping the Invu logo does not update the app.
- Updating the data (products, prices, employees, printers…): done inside the POS with Update Data, after you change something in the Admin Panel.
1. See which version you have
Tap the Invu logo once on the main screen. The menu title shows the app name and version, for example "Invu Pos (6.10.1)".
In Venezuela that title always says "2.4.4". To see the real version:
- press and hold the logo, open Troubleshoot and look at the This POS network card; or
- in the Admin Panel, go to Settings > System > Information, POS Connections tab, Invu Version column. It shows the version of every device in your business.
2. Update the app
| Device | Where to update | Minimum system version |
|---|---|---|
| iPad | App Store ("Invu Pos") | iPadOS 15.5 |
| Android with Google Play | Google Play ("Invu POS") | Android 8.0 |
| Android without Google Play | Ask your distributor or Invu for the new version | Android 8.0 |
| Windows | Microsoft Store ("Invu POS 4") | Windows 10 version 1809, 64-bit |
- Before updating, check that the POS top bar is not red (no internet) and that the cloud icon is white (synced). That way pending orders are uploaded.
- Open your device's store, find the app and tap Update.
- On iPad and on Android with Google Play, the POS may also show Update App? with the buttons IGNORE, LATER and UPDATE NOW. Tap UPDATE NOW to go to the store. If you choose LATER, it reminds you again in 3 days.
- On Windows and on Android without Google Play the app does not remind you: check the store or ask your distributor.
- Open the app and wait for the loading screen to finish (it shows a percentage and your business name). With internet it can take up to 2 minutes.
3. Update the data (Update Data)
Use it when you changed something in the Admin Panel (products, prices, categories, employees, roles, printers, registers, payment types, discounts, tables) and it does not show on the POS.
- On the main screen, press and hold the Invu logo.
- Choose Update Data.
- If asked, enter the PIN of an employee whose role has the Can Update Data on iPad permission.
- Wait until Loading. disappears. There is no success message: when it finishes, the screen goes back to normal.
- Open orders and the register state (open or closed, consecutive numbers, Command By Pre-check) are not lost.
- Customers are not updated with this option: use Update Clients in the same menu (same permission).
- If a change does not show on another device, run Update Data on that device too.
- If An error occurred while updating the data appears, check the internet and try again. To send us the details, press and hold the OK button on the message and take a screenshot.
4. Sync: how to tell whether the device is up to date
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Red top bar | No internet | Check the Wi-Fi or cable. You can keep selling; pending data uploads when the connection returns |
| Crossed-out purple cloud | Sync between devices is disconnected | Tap the cloud to reconnect. On Windows, ask your technician to allow outbound traffic to port 9999 |
| White cloud with a check | Connected and synced | Nothing |
| Loading. when you come back to the app | The POS is confirming it has the latest data after being in the background | Wait; it clears by itself within 30 seconds |
| Recovering closed orders before a report | The POS is uploading the day's orders missing on the server | Wait until it says Orders synchronized |
If one device's orders do not show on another:
- Check the top bar and the cloud on both devices.
- Press and hold the logo, open Troubleshoot and check that Invu Cloud Services is Available.
- Close the app completely and open it again: loading forces a sync.
5. Change devices or reinstall
- On the old device, press and hold the logo and choose Log Out. If it asks for a PIN, it must belong to an employee allowed to log out.
- If Orders without save appears, that device has orders not yet uploaded: connect it to the internet, wait a minute and try again.
- If no PIN can log out, check under Settings > Users and Roles > POS Roles that a role has the log-out permission (in View assigned roles you can search for it by its ID, 89) and run Update Data.
- On the new device, install the app from the store, enter your Username and Password and tap Login.
- If You have exceeded the number of terminals allowed for this account. appears, you see the list of your account's devices: tap the trash can on the device you no longer use. You can also deactivate it in the panel, under POS Connections.
- Choose the device's register in Select cashier.
Do not do this without talking to support:
- Uninstall the app or clear its data if the device has orders not yet uploaded: they are lost.
- Press and hold the cloud and accept Sync Problems?: it deletes all the device's data and closes the app, without checking for pending orders.
Common problems
- I tapped the logo and nothing updated. A tap only shows the version. The app is updated from the store (section 2) and the data with Update Data (section 3).
- The PIN screen shakes and does not continue. That employee's POS role does not have the permission. Use another employee's PIN or check the role under Settings > Users and Roles > POS Roles.
- This account has been banned. Contact support or accounting.
- User not exist or Password is wrong. Check your login details.
- The POS logged out by itself and asks for the username. The device was deactivated (from the panel or from another device's terminal list). Log in again.
- Support opens the help center in English. That is the expected language for an English POS; you can switch languages with the portal's selector.
- Change the POS language: press and hold the logo and choose Change Language. The change applies only to that device.
